Carolyn P. Beiers, affectionately known as “KK”, a devoted wife, mother, sister, educator, and compassionate advocate for children and young adults, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 in Forest City, NC.
Born on September 28, 1940, in Orangeburg, SC, to C. M. and Gwen Holly, she dedicated her life to the educational and welfare of underrepresented and underserved populations.
An honor graduate of Aiken High School, Class of 1958, Carolyn continued her education at the University of Central Florida where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. In 1988, she earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Converse College allowing her to further her career as an educator, positively impacting the lives of countless special needs students.
She was a passionate teacher of reading skills to children and their parents in the Greenville County Schools as well as being their advocate. She was selected as Teacher of Year for the 1997-1998 school year at Greenville County; Sans Souci Elementary.
Throughout her life, Carolyn remained committed to her Christian faith and was a cherished member of Christ Church in Greenville, SC. Her love for pets, particularly dogs, was evident in her everyday interactions and brought joy to those around her.
Carolyn’s legacy will be remembered through her unwavering compassion and advocacy for those in need. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Fred Beiers; children, Russell Porter and Holly Moore; step-daughters, Beth and Sarah Beiers and Laurel Sanderson; brothers, James and Charles Holly; grandchildren, Jonathan Sullivan Beiers, Amelia Rose, Julian, Truitt, and Iris Mae McKie, Lily Mae, and Jude Sanderson; and nephews, Michael and Matthew Holly and niece, Kimberly Sawyer, their families, and lifelong friend, Judy Cavanaugh. She also was loved and admired by her many “Cone” cousins.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The funeral service to honor Carolyn’s life will be held in Markley Chapel at Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville on April 13, 2024, at 10:00 am. Following the service, a burial ceremony will take place at Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park, 1150 N Main Street, Fountain Inn, SC 29644.

Carolyn’s gracious spirit and dedication to her family and serving others will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
