Carolyn Joan Keller

October 24, 1935 - July 25, 2008
C. Joan Keller, 72, of Hartsfield Drive, died July 25, 2008. She was the daughter of the late John Gomer and Marjorie Etheleen Dunn Keller. She obtained her RN Degree from University Hospital, School of Nursing, Birmingham, AL in 1956. She received her BSN from the University of Alabama, Tuacaloosa, AL in 1968 and her MSN from The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC in 1970. She was employed with the Greenville Hospital System for 38 years and worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cardiovascular Nursing from which she retired in 1997. She was an active member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church. She was a member of Happy Hearts and worked with Friendship House and Sonshiners. She was also the director of the VSP Program, as well as, a Charter Member of the We Be II Book Club. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth G. and Carolyn C. Keller of Easley; two nieces, Pamela Keller Foster and her husband, Jason, of Piedmont, Tracy Keller Gaylord and her husband, Toni, of Easley; two great nieces, Abby and Gracie Gaylord; and two great nephews, Colby Foster and Drew Gaylord. She was preceded in death by a great niece, Emily Caroline Gaylord. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hampton Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 2511 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29615.
