Catherine Estelle Raden, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and retired registered nurse, died peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2020 in Greenville SC. She was 92.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Catherine was a selfless, lifelong nurturer who dedicated her life to her family and to serving others. A mother of ten and generous to a fault, she was a longtime volunteer, and active in St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Maumee, Ohio from 1959 until she relocated to the Carolinas in 2018.
She was preceded in death by husband William H. Raden, parents Donald Matheson and Ruth (Teate) Matheson, and sisters Ruth Miller, Alice Semmerling and Estelle Kiefel. She is already dearly missed by her children — daughters Kathleen Palmisano, Margaret (William) Frazier, Laura (Michael) Gustus, Mary (Gordon) McIndoe, Elizabeth (Steven) Bonham, and Molly Passer and sons William (Suzanne Fletcher), James, David and Christopher Raden — as well as the ten grandchildren and a great-grandson whose childhoods were enriched by Catherine’s care and unconditional love: Nathan, Austin and Tierra Palmisano; Berklie Frazier; Jimmy and Molly McIndoe; Bailey (Monteblanco) and Riley Bonham; Scarlett and Oliver Passer; and Rayden Monteblanco. She will be remembered with love by her step-grandchildren Ashley Deming and Brittney Gustus and step-great grandson Edward Tarr.
Catherine will be cremated at Thomas McAfee Cremation Center, Greenville, SC. A memorial and interment service will take place in 2021 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee, Ohio.
