Cecil Edward (Ed) Spence, 83, of Travelers Rest, beloved husband of Dorothy (Dot) Smith Spence, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022.
Born in Miami, FL, he was the son of the late Rev. J.C. and Nezzie Pittman Spence.
Ed was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship where he was involved in the worship music ministry for many years. An avid musician, Ed played the electric guitar and steel guitar. In addition, he enjoyed his career as a truck driver and took pride in his customized ’87 Ford F-150.
For Ed, his biggest love was Jesus and his family. If you knew him, you knew where his heart and faith were placed. He was a man of strong work ethic, conviction, faith and family values. His presence will be missed but his legacy of love and memories will live on through his loved ones.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son, Steve Spence (Sharon); daughter, Sandy Creasy (Steve); grandchildren, Taylor, Thomas “Ramona”, Jonathan (Virginia), Jessica (Mark), Jacob, and Jennifer; two brothers, David Spence (Janice), and Sammy Spence (Merdis).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, Joseph, and James; and sisters, Edith, Ruby, Helen, Louise, and Mary.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Grace Christian Fellowship, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Coleman Memorial Cemetery.
