Charles Abran Banks, beloved husband of the late Virginia Banks, of Greenville passed away at the age of 76 on May 11, 2023.
Born in Slater, SC, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Eva Bryant Banks. Charles was one of twelve children and grew up with a large, close-knit family.
Charles was a member of North Fork Baptist Church. After high school, Charles began working at J.P. Stevens, where he spent over 40 years of his life as a committed and loyal employee. His dedication to his job was a testament of his strong work ethic.
Throughout his life, Charles had many interests and passions. He loved racoon hunting and spent many weekends in the woods with his dogs. He was also an avid Clemson Tiger Football fan, and he never missed a game. In addition, Charles enjoyed playing golf and spent many afternoons on the golf course.
Above all else, Charles loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who cherished his loved ones and always put them first. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his infectious smile, and his unwavering love for his family.
He is survived by daughter, Paula Waldrup (Randall); sons, Glenn Tuttle (Esther) and Richard Tuttle (Patricia); grandchildren, Summer Banks, Randall Batson Jr, James Waldrup, Randall Tuttle, Jennifer Tuttle, Richard Tuttle Jr, Megan Tuttle-Dorer, Lauren Tuttle, and Crystal Tuttle Ligon; 23 great grandchildren; brother, George Banks; sisters, Mary Sue McCall, Nora Lee Nelson, and Helen Willis.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was preceded in death by son, Wayne Tuttle; and son-in-law, Randall Waldrup.
A visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
