Charles Arthur Belhumeur

CM/Sgt. Charles A. Belhumeur passed away peacefully July 25, 2004 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center in Greenville, SC. CM/Sgt. Belhumeur retired August, 1970 as Superintendent of Security Police at Patrick Air Force Base. Chief Belhumeur served in European Theatre of Operation and in Vietnam. While in Vietnam he was one of 2 Body Guards appointed to Cardinal Spellman while his eminence visited the troops in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. He was a recipient of numerous decorations and awards, including Bronze Star, Commendation Medal, Vietnamese Air Medal and the Vietnamese Medal of Gallantry. Chief Belhumeur enjoyed surf fishing, shrimping, claming and bowling. Shortly after his retirement he was employed as Chief of Security at Radiation, now known as Harris Corporation. In 1973 he started the Park Ranger Force in District 2 Brevard County. Chief Belhumeur is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel; two daughters; four sisters and two brothers; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. The family requests no flowers; donations may be made for cancer research or your favorite charity. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
