Charles Edwin Meyer, Sr

Charles Edwin Meyer, Sr., 91, husband of Virginia Pike Meyer, of Greenville, died at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown, Monday, October 8, 2007. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Edwin B. and Helma Peterson Meyer. Mr. Meyer served his country as a Staff Sgt. in the US Army during WWII. He retired from Lockwood Greene Engineering Firm as a design engineer. He was a member of Sans Souci Baptist Church and served as a teacher, deacon, and trustee. He also was a member of Mu Beta Phi, the musical fraternity at Clemson University, where he played in the band. Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-eight years, are several nieces and nephews. Mr. Meyer was predeceased by a daughter, Moena Meyer; a son, Charles Edwin Meyer, Jr.; and sister Katherine M. Reed. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Sans Souci Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. ? 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Remembrance Mausoleum. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Sans Souci Baptist Church at 3100 Old Buncombe Rd
