Retired Colonel Charles Francis Greer, 82, of 1119 Edwards Road, husband of Betty French Greer, died Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at his residence. Col. Greer was born in Washington, D.C., to the late General Frank Upton Greer and May Mann Greer. Col. Greer graduated from West Point Military Academy and married Betty on the same day, June 05, 1945. He retired in 1974 after serving in numerous locations, including occupied Germany, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The most rewarding task in his retirement was serving as the ?Greer Family Patriarch?. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Nancy G. Gray and her husband, Dennis, of Burke, Virginia; three sons, Dr. Frank R. Greer and his wife, Cathy, of Madison, Wisconsin, Charles T. Greer, and his wife, Laura, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ret. Col. Jon D. Greer, and his wife, Susie, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Gene G. Plante of N. Providence, Rhode Island, Rebecca E. Greer of Chatham, New York; brother, Ret. Gen. Thomas U. Greer and his wife, Flo, of Milledgeville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Louise Greer, spouse of his late brother, Frank U. Greer, of Greenville, South Carolina, nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Curran Sullivan, Col. Greer?s caregiver, for the love, devotion, and support she has provided to both him and his family during the past 10 months. A Prayer Vigil will be held Saturday, November 19, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Msgr. Crogan Hall with a visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. A future graveside service will be held at the Post Cemetery, USMA, West Point, New York..
