Charles Glenn Davis

Charles Glenn ?Birddog? Davis, Sr., 78, husband of Hazel Pauline Calhoun Davis, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate. Born in Caroline, N.C., he was the son of the late Clemons and Ila Smith Davis. Mr. Davis was retired from J.P. Steven, Dunean Plant, and was a member of The Carpenters House. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was well respected, loved to farm and had a love for the land. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Diane and Charles Whitmire of Taylors, Kathy Sonefelt of Houston, TX., Brenda and Jim Brown of Simpsonville, Maryann and Sam Richards of Fountain Inn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles ?Pete? and Tammy Davis, Michael and Susan Davis all of Piedmont; two sisters, Betty Wilkie and Shirley Ledford both of Cliffside, N.C.; a brother, Paul Davis of San Francisco, CA; twelve grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Grover Davis. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at The Carpenters House, River Road, Piedmont. Burial will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
