Charles H. 'Dooder' Jones, 84, husband of Gail Jones, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Charlie and Ida Mae Hood Jones.

Dooder and Gail were high school sweethearts and married in 1958. He was a sales representative with Frederick Gumm Chemical Company for 28 years. His passion for gardening awarded him a feature in a South Carolina Homes & Garden magazine. After retirement in 2000, Dooder and Gail traveled to all 49 states in their RV. He was a member of Church at The Mill in Moore.

In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, Mr. Jones is survived by a son, Greg Jones; a daughter, Allison Davis (Jimmy); four grandchildren and a great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carrol Jones and a sister Patsy Fabrizio.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 25, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Seating will be limited to allow for social distancing. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church at The Mill, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369.

Gail, so sorry to hear of Dooder's passing. You are in my prayers.

My sincere condolences to your precious family. Thank you for the privilege of meeting you and allowing me to care for Dudder. My prayers for you and your family will continue.

2006 Traverse Bay RV Resort/Michigan and 2008 Deer Creek RV Resort/Florida- - so many fond memories of Dooder. Gail we had so many fabulous adventures together. We are so thankful to share so many good memories with you and Dooder, in Michigan and at Deer Creek in Florida!!! Dooder was the most kind, caring, and generous person! He will be missed by so many. Gail, add my heart to those broken by Dooder’s passing. Have many fond and funny memories of the two of you, all the way back to Paris High School. A couple who loved and lived a rich and happy life together. So glad you were able to do all the RV’ing earlier and store up precious memories. Please take care of yourself and be well. Gail, Bobby and I were so sorry to learn that your husband had passed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. May he rest in peace besides always being with you in your heart.

Dooder became a good friend from the day we moved in next door. His engaging personality, great sense of humor, and warm welcome when we landed at the Ravines endeared him to us almost immediately. His Christianity and giving nature are what were most meaningful to Myrna and me. And the memories of the many Tuesday community men's breakfasts where Dooder entertained us with his jovial banter. What a guy! We were blessed knowing him and will truly miss him.

Dooder was a special man! He could always make you laugh. We are going to miss him so much.
Gail, you have such wonderful memories to look back on. All of your travels in that RV were wonderful.
We love all of you.

What a special man he was in my life. His smile and sometimes wink always made me smile. Only regret is that I only knew him in his later years. Dear Gail and Allison and Gregg I know you are going to miss him, but what memories you will be able to tell. I was blessed to know him and certainly will miss him.
