Charles Nicholas Alexander, 77, of 100 Caledon Court, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Charles Joseph and Lucille Herzler Alexander. Mr. Alexander was a graduate of St. Louis University and the retired Vice President of S&K Sales in Greenwich, CT. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran and he served during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1953. At the time of his death he was a member of the Patriot?s Hall Veterans Museum in Walhalla, SC serving as Treasurer. He was a past treasurer of the Captain?s Walk Villa Condominium Association and a member of the Keowee Key Koraliers, a co-ed choir of retirees. He was a performer with the Oconee Community Theatre in Seneca, SC and a participant in a Catholic Christian community Bible group at Keowee Keys. Surviving are his former wife, Shirley McVey Alexander; four daughters, Debra A. Dinolfo and her husband, John D., of Central, Diane A. Belford of Lexington, MA., Eileen A. Kidder and her husband, T.R., of St. Louis, Missouri, Linda A Whitcomb of Greenville; two sons, Charles J. Alexander and his wife, Marge, of Holden MA., William J. Alexander of San Francisco, CA.; three brothers, Richard Alexander of Auke Bay, Alaska, Robert and Gerald Alexander both of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren, Erin B. Kidder, Jonathan A. Belford, Megan P. Alexander, Alissa R. Whitcomb, Alexander M. Whitcomb and Adam J. Whitcomb; former wife, Libby Gray Alexander; two step children, Debbie Alphin and her husband, Phil, and Beth Scully; and four step grandchildren, Jeremy Guthrie, Chris and Corey Broyles and Taylor Alexandra Gunter. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 2252 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681 or to Patriots Hall Association, PO Box 591, Walhalla, SC 29691. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 29, 2007 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
