Charles Werner Queitsch

Charles Werner Queitsch, 84, died suddenly October 21, 2008. Born in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Maria Kiefer and Arthur Queitsch. Surviving are a niece Patricia Scharfenberger and husband Peter of Garden City, NY. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1947, he attended St. John's University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952. Upon graduation, he began his long career with J. P. Stevens, retiring in 1991. Charlie was an avid marathon runner and completed the New York City Marathon multiple times. As an accommodation to the arrival of his golden years he traded in the rigors of marathon running for the pleasures of long and leisurely walks. His smiling face, friendly manner and habit of "whistling while he walked" became familiar to all the regulars at Cleveland Park. Funeral services were held October 30, 2008 in Floral Park, NY. Burial followed at Flushing Cemetery, Flushing NY. May God bless you and keep you, Dear Uncle Charlie.
