Charlie Harrison Morton

January 31, 1936 - September 11, 2006
Charlie Harrison Morton, Ret. Sgt. 1st Class, 70, of 101 Clemson Avenue, husband of Vicki Jo Adams Morton, died Monday, September 11, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Kiser Station, TN., he was a son of the late Roy and Imogene Crisp Morton. Mr. Morton was a retired Sergeant First Class with the Donaldson Center 391st Engineers Battalion following 33 years of service. He was a member of the Army Full Reservist since 1972. He was a member of Westville Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and a member of the church choir. He was also a member of the Carolina Gospel Bluegrass Band. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Chuck and Renee Morton of Taylors, Spencer and Andrea Morton of Easley; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Melanie Adcox of Piedmont, Stephanie and Rodney Bryant of Greer, Heather and Abram Cantrell of Greenville, Christy and Kevin Hyatt of Greenville; two sisters, Betty Housley and Juanita Ferguson both of Friendsville, TN.; a brother, Cletus Morton of Lenoir City, TN.; and twelve grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West.
