Christine Bagwell Thompson

September 5, 1918 - February 17, 2008
Christine Bagwell Thompson, 89, widow of George William Thompson, died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at NHC of Mauldin. Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Henry and Lillian Henderson Bagwell. Mrs. Thompson was retired from Westboro Weaving Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mauldin for nearly 50 years where she was involved in the Ruth Sunday School Class, the Sonshine Club and Baptist Women's Group. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Manuel and her husband, Greg, of Simpsonville, Syble Drake and her partner, Audra Pierce, of Simpsonville; a son, Ralph E. Thompson of Simpsonville; ten grandchildren, Anna and Caroline Baughman, Ashley and Stephanie Manuel, Jennifer Gunter, Russell Drake, Angie Roberts, Tracy Brandt, Jared and Mallory Pierce; six great grandchildren, Robert Clifton Roberts, Alexander, Christian and Brianna Drake, Sebastian and Destiny Gunter; and a brother, Carl "Buck" Bagwell and his wife, Lila, of Greenville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles W. Thompson. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605 or First Baptist Church of Mauldin Homebound Video Tape Ministry, 150 S. Main Street, Mauldin, SC 29662. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mauldin. Burial will follow in Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Susan and Greg Manuel, 353 English Oak Road, Simpsonville. The family wishes to thank the staff of NHC of Mauldin for their care and concern for Christine for the past five years.
