Clara Belle Nicholls Davis, 85, died August 8, 2005, at Oakmont East Nursing Center. Mrs. Davis was the wife of the late Wellford Allen Davis for 53 years. Born on January 1, 1920, in Greer, SC, she was the daughter of the late Miles Dewey and Stella Pearson Nicholls. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Davis is survived by her children, Nancy D. Barnes and husband, William J. Barnes of Greenville; Donald Wellford Davis and wife Joye G. Davis of Simpsonville; and Betty D. Davis and husband Guy W. Davis, Jr. of Greenville; her grandchildren, James Davis Barnes and wife Ann, Thomas Brooks Davis and wife Kaci, Amber Elizabeth Davis, Spencer Allen Davis, Brianna Joye Davis; great-granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Barnes; sister, Ruth N. Phillips of Greenville; brother, William Clyde Nichols and wife Adrianne of Greenville; and sisters-in-law: Margaret Gantt of Wayne, Michigan and Joy Lasswell of Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Davis was predeceased by a brother, Ralph M. Nicholls. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the care and support of the nurses, CNA?s and all staff of Oakmont East Nursing Center, especially those of the 600 Unit, during the time Mrs. Davis was a resident. Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with Reverend Dave Sems officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 ? 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, West. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2106 Buncombe Road, Greenville, SC 29609. The family is at the home of Betty and Guy Davis, 123 Whitehaven Drive.

I did not personally know Mrs. Davis, but I do know and love very much Don and Joye Davis and children.My heart aches for their loss.I know Mrs. Davis is in much better hands now.I am sure that will console them in this time of sorrow.My love and thoughts
