Cloyd Allen Bookout, 72, of 109 Richfield Terrace, husband of Martha Wiley Bookout, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Gastonia, NC, he was the son of the late Reverend Leslie Edward and Creola Pernell Coffey Bookout. Mr. Bookout was a Broadcaster with WPTF, Raleigh, NC; WAME and WSOC in Charlotte, NC; WESC, WSSL, and WSPA TV in the upstate. He was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and teacher. He formerly served as music director for Beulah Baptist Church, Fountain Inn; Tanglewood Baptist Church, Greenville; Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Taylors; and Victory Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, SFC Edward Bookout and his wife, Emily, of Vicenza, Italy, David Bookout and his wife, Andrea, of Greenville; and three grandsons, Ethan, Dawson and Joseph Bookout. Memorials may be made to the Mission Projects of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 4999 Old Spartanburg Road, Taylors, SC 29687. Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Brushy Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence.
