Clyde Franklin Watson Sr., 95, beloved husband of Linda Wallace, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Daniel and Annie Foster Watson.
Clyde proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Cleveland from 1945-1946. After his military service, he returned to work at JP Stephens Dunean Plant and retired after 47 years. He was also a Shriner who previously served on the Hejaz Temple Staff and with the Service Unit.
Above all, he was a loving and doting husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He shared 64 beautiful years with his first wife, Flora Watson, before her passing. He will be remembered as a dedicated worker, a proud American, and a devoted family man.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his daughter, Zandra (Terry) Huffman; his son, Reverend Wayne (Sylvia) Watson; stepdaughters, Kim Williams, and Becky Kindley; grandchildren, Renee Shealy, Jason Watson, Jennifer Buchanan, and Kristie Wilhelm; and great grandchildren, Daven Brooks, Kaelyn Wilhelm, Bryson Watson, Carter Watson, Gracie Watson, and Brenden Buchanan.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Frankie Watson.
The visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at City View First Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery West.
