Virgil Clyde “Yo-Yo” Thompson, 80, husband of Linda Thompson, died Friday, September 3, 2021.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Gay and Irene Martin Thompson.
Clyde was a member of Berea First Baptist Church since 1978 where he served as a deacon and an usher. Known for his storytelling, he was a member of the Gamecock Club and a season ticket holder for over 30 years. Clyde was a member of the Walden Masonic Lodge and the Tri-County Golf Club where he was an avid golfer. He was a 1959 graduate of Carolina High School and retired as a firefighter from the Greenville Fire Department. After retirement, he worked in car sales with C. Thompson Automotive.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Chuck Thompson (Sherri) and Eric Thompson; grandchildren, Austin and Caylin Thompson; sister, Diane Thompson Bishop; brother, Claude Thompson (Rachel); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Glenda Darlene Thompson.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 08, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Berea First Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 1:30 pm. Burial will be in the Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery in Easley.
