Coly Wingo Howell, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, July 1, 2006 at his home in Taylors after a long and very happy life of 93 years. Born in Greenville, Mr. Howell was the widower of Edna Mae Hall and the son of the late John Barron, Sr. and Florence Estelle Smith Howell. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Coly retired from the International Harvester Company at age 65. He then went to work with his grandson, Tim Reese in his home repair business for another 20 years. During this time, Coly met many people, all of which saw what a kind and wonderful person he was. Coly had a great love of horses and had many friends in the National Barrel Horse Association with his daughter, Cheryl Howell Millwood. Loved by all his family and friends, he will be greatly missed but never forgotten. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Howell Millwood of Gaffney; his grandson, Tim Reese of Greenville; his step daughter, Deloris Davis ?Glo? Reese of Greenville; and his brother, John Howell of Travelers Rest; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with ?Red? Sizemore serving as Honorary Pallbearer. Visitation will be held Monday from 7:00 ? 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Howell Family Cemetery. The family will be at the residence.

I am Coly's first cousin, son of Walter Smith. I haven't seen Coly for many years, but have many fond memories of visiting his family. My condolences to all the family of Coly.

I was so sorry to hear about Uncle Coly. It was great spending time with him at this last Howell reunion. He was in a great mood and we enjoyed talking with him. He will be missed.
