Dagmar Shelley Touchton, 85, passed away on March 5, 2024. She was the wife of Johnny M. Touchton, who preceded her in death in 2014. Dagmar came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior at 24 years old when her dear friend, Joan Settle, shared the Gospel with her. She would tell you that her life changed forever on that day.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Those who were blessed to call her mother and grandmother knew that they were deeply loved and cherished. As the grandchildren started arriving, her name became Nana and it seemed as though that was her favorite name of all. Whether you were born into her family or joined through marriage or adoption, you were her people. A running family joke that was sure to bring laughter was asking her the question, “who is your favorite” and her responding that the person asking was, of course, her favorite!
From a very young age and throughout her life, Dagmar experienced many hardships. Enduring circumstances that may have made others crumble, she remained a strong and loyal woman, modeling faithfulness despite tough situations. She raised her children with the knowledge of God and made her family and life decisions centered on Him. She led her children well, and they have carried the legacy of her courage and faith into their own families.
Her eldest daughter, Jonna Carper was married to Alan Carper before her death in 2017. They are blessed with three children. Joshua Carper married to Tracy Carper and their four daughters: Alyssa, Addyson, Amelia and Ansley; Ashleigh O’Neill married to Tim O’Neill and their three sons: Jackson, Alex, and Diesel; and Bethany Reed married to Maury Reed and their children: Felicity, Corrie, and Jojen.
Her son, Robert Touchton is married to Davina Touchton and they were blessed with one daughter, Reagan.
Her daughter, Shawn Thompson is married to Charles Thompson and they were blessed withone daughter, Shelley.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast Chapel with a visitation following until 5:00 p.m.
