Daniel “Dan” Wayne Morrissey, 76, of Simpsonville, SC passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday May 2, 2024. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Elizabeth Ann (Roy) Morrissey.
Dan was born in Troy, New York on February 17, 1948 to Arthur and Doris Morrissey where he spent most of his life. He was a 1966 graduate of Shaker High School and shortly after committed to serving his country as an airman and cook in the United States Air Force for six years.
After being honorably discharged from the service, Dan had a long, successful career in telecommunications and managing fleet vehicles for Albany International Airport and Greenville/Spartanburg Airport.
Dan was an avid bowler whose incredible skills were evidenced by his earning of several 300 rings after competing in three leagues. Over the last 17 years, Dan was a highly-dedicated HOA president for his community. Other particular special interests of Dan included the musical stylings of Elvis and Sinatra, traveling to Las Vegas with his wife, NASCAR, and Gamecock Football.
Surviving members of his family include his siblings: Gary, Karen, Rachel, and Debbie — 3 step-daughters: Lori (Jeff) LaPointe, Kimberly (Anthony) Pino, and Renee (Christopher) Reed — 4 grandchildren: Andrew & Kristen LaPointe and Kiersta & Chelsea Pino — along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Daniel and his daughter Jacqueline.
The family will be holding a private service. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made in his memory to NHC Mauldin on E. Butler Road, the American Cancer Society, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
