Daniel William Catena, III, 21, died Sunday, August 22, 2010. Born in St. Louis Park, MN, he was the son of Daniel William Catena, Jr. and Mary Jean Peterson Catena. Mr. Catena was a natural born leader and an avid sportsman and athlete who enjoyed tennis, soccer and swimming. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Surviving, in addition to his parents are a sister, Kelli Catena-Sisk and husband Bradley of Inman; a maternal grandmother, Eva Peterson of Batavia, IL and a paternal grandmother, Rita Catena of Greenville; a niece, Sophia Sisk and a nephew, Noah Sisk. He was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Wilbur Peterson and a paternal grandfather, Daniel Catena, Sr. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, 309 Gower St., Greenville, SC 29611. A Vigil will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. with visitation following until 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with committal to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
