Born at home in Clemson, SC, David Calhoun Stephens was the son of the late Rester and Emma Stephens. He died at his home in Greenville, SC, after a 17 month battle with cancer.
Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janeen Kidd Stephens, as well as their four daughters and their families: Emma Janeen Stephens and sons (Joseph and Alexander); Laurel Anne Stephens Shaler and her husband, Lt. Nicholas Shaler, and their children (Anna Jean and Calhoun); Sarah Mae Stephens and her husband, Behrouz Kianian; and Mary Ellen Stephens and her husband, Christopher Dombrowski. Mr. Stephens is also survived by two sisters (Jane Owens and Anita Moore); a sister-in-law, Frances Stephens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stephens is preceded in death by beloved son, Jacob Calhoun Stephens, as well as his parents, a sister (Elizabeth Owens) and two brothers (R.L. Stephens and John Stephens).
Mr. Stephens attended law school at Baylor University, and spent most of his career with the Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney.
Mr. Stephens was well loved by his entire family and numerous friends.
Although no formal Receiving of Friends will be held, friends may pay their respects Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
A private graveside will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
