David Damon Mims, age 47, beloved husband of Kimberly “Kim” Smith Mims, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
Born in Greenville, SC, Damon was the son of Tanya (Morrill) Stein and the late Richard Michael “Mike” Mims. He graduated from Greenville High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Fred L Mims Sr and Evelyn Pannell Mims, his father, Richard Michael “Mike” Mims, his uncle, Lance Mims, his father-in-law Robert “Bob” Smith, and two beloved dogs Sampson and Dixie Cup.
Damon excelled in his professional life as a Senior Account Executive at TD SYNNEX on the Enterprise Sales Team. Over the span of 17 years, he cultivated deep relationships with his teammates and clients, earning him the reputation of being one of the best in his field. His dedication and commitment were evident from his beginnings on the Customer Acquisition Team to his role as a permanent sales representative. Throughout his tenure, Damon’s outstanding performance was recognized with numerous sales awards, reflecting his exceptional talent and hard work. He cherished the camaraderie and friendships he built within the company, finding fulfillment in the collaborative spirit of his profession.
Beyond his professional life, Damon was a member of Mauldin Methodist Church. His greatest joy in life was his daughter, Katherine. He loved spending time with her, particularly enjoying long golf cart rides and spending quality time together. An avid Carolina Gamecocks fan, Damon passionately supported his team throughout the years. Renowned for his big smile, generous heart, and quick wit, Damon was always ready to light up the room with his karaoke performances. His love for his rescues, Robbie and Dixie, showcased his deep love for dogs. A movie and history buff, Damon delighted in rattling off quotes at any moment, adding his own flair to every conversation. But most importantly, Damon was a great husband to Kim and father to Katherine. In both of their eyes, he hung the moon and will be forever loved.
Damon’s memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife Kim, adored daughter Katherine, dog Robbie, mother Tanya Stein, brother Chuck Mims (Jennifer Mook) and their children Eliott, Alex, and Max Mims. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Rhonda Smith, sister-in-law Brooke Moore (Ben Moore), and many more loving extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greenville, Greenville Humane Society , or the American Heart Association, American Heart Association.
