David Eugene ?Dewey? Willard, 40, of 204 Gatehouse Drive, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. Born in Albany, GA, he was a son of Russell Lyle and Peggy Ann Baker Willard of Greenville. Mr. Willard graduated from Furman University with a Bachelors of Science degree and from Clemson University with a Masters of Computer Science degree. He was employed with Hitachi for twelve years. Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Debbie Gibson, of Greenville; three brothers, Timothy Ray Frye of Greenville, Robert Louis Frye of Texas, and Russell Willard of Asheville, NC. He is predeceased by grandparents, Rev. Curtis Baker and wife Dolca. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The family is at the home of the sister, Debbie Gibson, 212 East Bourne Road.

I'm going to miss David terribly, but as I think about him, the thousands of memories that I shared with him over the last 25 years keep me smiling. None are particularly earth-shattering - just thoughts of the kind of stuff that two old buddies did toge

David was a friend of mine at Furman. We marched in the band together and were in Phi Mu Alpha together. He was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. he will be greatly miss. I will be praying for you and all his family during this time.

I will miss Dave greatly. Friends come and go, however true friends stick for life with each meeting as if no time has passed since the last. Dave was a good man and a good friend. Rest Dewey, rest well.

David often visited my tailgate party at Furman games and we visited often at UFFP roundtables. We will surely miss him. May God comfort you and give you peace. David has found peace from his suffering. May God's blessings be with his family and frien

David and I were classmates and fraternity brothers at Furman. Although I had not talked with him in a number of years, he still had an impact on my life. I treasure our time together and will remember his honest, caring, and jovial personality always.

My prayers are with you. I have many happy memories of our time at Furman.

I went to Furman with David, and he and I were fraternity brothers. He was an extremely nice guy who I thought lots of. I share your loss.

I was David's fraternity brother, and remember that we thought of him as fair, honest, and funny. He was a straight shooter who we liked and respected. Phi Mu Alpha and Furman are better for his being with us.

Please know how much we benefited from Dewey's passion for Furman athletics and for the university in general. We already miss him. Go Paladins!
