David Lawrence Smith, Jr., 82 of Simpsonville, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, following a brief illness.
Born in Florence, SC, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Thelma Smith. Lawrence served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of Buncombe Street Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Clara Malpass Smith of the home; three daughters, Susan Robinson (Rick) of Simpsonville, Sharon Kennedy and Laura Revell (Jeff), both of Florence; two sons, David Smith (Miriam) of Simpsonville and Mike Martinez (Kim) of Greenville; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Jack and Sarah Smith of Columbia; and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Dino.
Visitation will be held from 11:00AM to 12:30PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast Chapel.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Harber and the excellent staff at the Hillcrest Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their compassion and care.
