David Thomson Chapman, 47, of Greenville, SC and formerly of Seattle, WA died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Roanoke, VA, he was a son of Howard T. Chapman, Jr. and Carolyn Goldsmith Chapman and husband of Serena Fong Chapman. Mr. Chapman graduated from Wade Hampton High School, Class of 1977 and Clemson University, Class of 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He attended Edwards Road Baptist Church. He was a design engineer with D3 Technologies. Mr. Chapman was previously employed with Boeing and Lockheed Martin, where he helped design both military and commercial aircraft. Mr. Chapman was a devoted supporter and member of IPTAY, an enthusiastic participant in the All-American Soap Box Derby, an avid skier, amateur magician, and an Eagle Scout. Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are two sons, Nick and Joe Chapman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hugh and Bernadette Chapman of Colorado Springs, CO and Walter and Cindy Chapman of Houston, TX; one niece, Maria Chapman; two nephews, John and Jim Chapman; and numerous cousins. Mr. Chapman was a devoted husband, father, and precious son. He was loved dearly by all of his family and friends. Visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 ? 8:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 pm in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the charity of one?s choice.

I worked with Dave in Seattle many years ago. When I heard the news of his passing, the first memory which came back was Dave with his great big smile. I'm sure he touched everyone he met in a positive way. My best thoughts to his family & friends.
