Deidre Lee Painter Culbertson of Easley passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Oct 1, 2021, at Bon Secours St. Francis Greenville, at the age of 66, surrounded by her family.
Deidre is survived by her husband, Jimmy Ellis Culbertson of Easley, brother Russ Painter (Susan) of Laurens; sisters, Susan Morin (Nate) of Myrtle Beach; Jan McCall (Darrell) of Balsam Grove, NC; and Lori Turner (Randall) of Greenville. Deidre is also survived by 6 nephews and nieces (Rusty, David, Ashlee, Clarissa, Joshua, and Courtney), and 9 great nephews and nieces (Robert, Lillie, Paige, Jacob, Laurin, Cindy, Ryan, Addison, and Kathwren).
To Deidre her brother and sister-in-law were considered her brother and sister just as if they were born into the same family. She is also survived by these siblings, Johnny Culbertson of Greenville and Annette and James Garren, of Summerville.
She is preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Alice Painter of Greenville.
Deidre was born on September 15, 1955, at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her family moved to South Carolina in 1956. She attended Armstrong Elementary and Berea High School and completed Business classes at Greenville Technical College.
Deidre was married to Ellis on January 2, 1994. They honeymooned on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii near Deidre’s birthplace. Their love of God and their church brought them together and was the most important part of their busy life in support of their beliefs. Deidre loved the special dinners she and Ellis had on Sundays after church, when Ellis would take her to the mountains, or even out of state for the day. She often talked about them and bragged to her family and friends about how lucky she was.
Over the years Deidre worked in several positions in the banking industry. However, her personality shined in her work as a Customer Service Representative because she was so great with helping people. She was employed with American Federal Bank, BB&T, and the Bank of Travelers Rest over most of her career. She spent her last few working years in the Accounting Office at Sam’s Club in Easley, before retiring in 2020.
Deidre was deeply devoted to her love of God and her church. Her faith was immense. She was a member of Abundant Life in Berea where she spent every Sunday and many other days of the week helping with events to support other church members and their families in their time of need. Many of her friends were made in the church and even more through her service during Christian related events.
Deidre’s love for her family and friends was boundless, and she was generous beyond words. Not a day went by that she was not thinking about or doing something for her family or her friends. Her infinite love and passion for her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews couldn’t be matched. She never forgot a birthday, graduation, 1st day of school, or any special occasion where she could gift, and document, and share with those she loved.
Deidre touched so many people in so many ways each day, but her smile and laughter will always be remembered the most by all her friends and family. If she wasn’t smiling, she was doing something to make everyone else laugh or smile.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 8th, 2021, from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. A service will be held Saturday, October 9th, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Abundant Life of Berea. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens. All are welcome.
