It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dennis Doyle Helton, who now calls Heaven his eternal home. He was welcomed by his Heavenly Father on November 5, 2023, at the age of 89.
Dennis Helton was born on March 12, 1934, in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Essie Mann and William Helton.
Dennis graduated from Westville High School and earned an associate degree from Greenville Technical College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and retired from Morton Thiokol as a chemical technologist.
Dennis had an unwavering commitment to his church family while serving as Sunday school teacher, deacon, and usher. Throughout the years he fervently studied the word of God and has written and published numerous books. Dennis is remembered by many as a humble and kind Christian mentor and leader. His servanthood will continue to have a lasting impact on so many lives.
Dennis enjoyed playing horseshoes and earned the title Class B Champion of South Carolina. He enjoyed watching NBA basketball, track and field, and old westerns. He was an avid Nascar fan and was able to watch the Nascar 2023 Cup Series Championship Race surrounded by his family.
His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his loving family and friends as he is now walking down the street of gold in a new glorified body. We rejoice with him, forever grateful for having been touched by his presence.
Dennis Helton was survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Christine Helton, and together they built a Christ-centered home. He was a devoted father to six daughters, Debbie Sebastian (Jeff), Donna Edge (Michael), Dale Rock (Bill), Denise Lott (Dave), Deree Tiedeman (Jeff), and Dena Matlock (Todd).
