Dolores Quinn Moxie, 95, of Simpsonville, SC, wife of the late Joseph Edward Moxie, passed on April 20th, 2024.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 3rd, 1928, Dolores was one of seven children born to the late Bernard and Florence Gunst Quinn.
After growing up in Pittsburgh, PA and raising her children she briefly moved to Walnut Creek, CA before returning to Pittsburgh. Two years later, the family relocated to West Seneca, NY where she began working in catalog at J.C. Penney.
Following her retirement from J.C. Penney, Joe and Dolores moved to Simpsonville, SC to be closer to part of their family and to get away from the snow. She loved to bowl at Simpsonville Lanes where she bowled to the age of 92 even though she had macular degeneration and could barely see the pins. Dolores and her husband Joe delivered meals on wheels for 16 years in the Simpsonville area. She was a devoted member of the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and an inspiration and shining light to all that knew and loved her.
Dolores was a loving wife and mother and her family was her life. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Tom Moxie (Karen) of Greer and Jeff Moxie (Lori) of Tigard, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Ann Moxie of Mauldin; son-in-law, Frank Smiechowski of Pittsburgh, PA; her sister, Patricia Massicci (Armando) of Pittsburgh, PA; sister-in-law, Evelyn Sciulli of Irwin, PA; six grandchildren, Laura Moxie, Tim Moxie (Kelli), Lindsay Moxie Herold (Rob), Matt Smiechowski (Jen), Michael Smiechowski (Kelly) and Christina Smiechowski; ten great grandchildren; and a niece, Beverly Huston, formerly of the home.
In addition to her beloved husband of 66 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Smiechowski; one son, Jim Moxie; two granddaughters, Amy Moxie and Megan Moxie; daughter-in-law, Paula Smart Moxie; and nephew, Richard Quinn, formerly of the home.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 26th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Church followed by entombment in the Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum.
