Donald Clifford Roy

Donald Clifford Roy, 84, of 203 Garden Trail, died July 25, 2004 at his home. Born in Amesbury, MA, he was the son of the late Jules D. and Rosanna Belanger Roy. He was a graduate of Amesbury High School and Tilton Academy, then he attended Syracuse University. He served in the US Army Medical Corps during WW II, where he served in the African and Italian Campaigns. Mr. Roy came to the Greenville area as a metallurgist with Saco-Lowell Shops and later founded Roy Metal Finishing Company, where he served as Chairman of the Board until his death. He was a member of the National Association of Metal Finishers, American Society of Metals, American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society, Greenville Country Club, Commerce Club, and a loyal friend of the St. Francis Hospital System. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Cecile Cote Roy; a son, Clifford Donald Roy and his wife, Jane Russell Roy of Greenville; a granddaughter, Emilie Roy Pazdan and her husband, John, of Greenville; a grandson, Alexander Alden Roy and his wife, Kimberly, of Greenville; four great-grandchildren, Mary Bradley Pazdan, Susannah Manly Pazdan, John Samuel Pazdan and Isabelle Cote Roy; a niece, Theresa Hanron Lemieux of Amesbury, MA. Memorials may be made to St. Mary?s Catholic School, in his name, 101 Hampton Avenue, Greenville, SC 29601. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon Tuesday at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with visitation prior to the service, from 10:45 until 11:45, in Sacred Heart Hall.
