Doris Louise Haney

Doris Louise Stokes Haney, 77, loving wife of Leroy Haney, went to her Heavenly home on August 25, 2008. She bravely fought her illness for over five and a half years with tremendous courage and strength, inspiring all who knew her. Born on August 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late T.W. and Callie Cagle Stokes. She was a member of Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from Monaghan Mill after the closing of F.W. Poe where she had worked since the age of 17. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 61 years, are two daughters and a son-in-law, Doris Ann Hanvey, and ReNee and Jimmy Pruitt; three grandchildren, Patricia Conwell and her husband Curtis, Earnie Hanvey, and Brian Pruitt; two great grandchildren, Ashleigh Johnson, and Cory Dunagan; and a sister Phyllis Barnett. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615 or Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church, 19 Sidney St., Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence.
