Dorothy Louise Niemand Dengler, 77, of 1102 Heritage Club Drive, died Friday, August 24, 2007. Born in Davenport, IA, Mrs. Dengler was the widow of Larry Dengler, and the daughter of the late Alfred Richard ?Dick? and Wilma C. Rohlf Niemand. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She was a Girl Scout Leader for five years, as well as an elementary school volunteer. She was a Pink Lady/Candy Striper for over 10 years, and volunteered for Wee Care, making smocked gowns for premature babies. Additionally, she lead the Rescue Mission Meals for her church through the Knoxville Lutheran Churches for over 15 years. Mrs. Dengler was an accomplished runner and was awarded membership to the YMCA Master Swim team at the age of 50. She was a highly skilled seamstress and did volunteer sewing for various organizations and church projects. She was also an animal lover and equestrian. She is survived by two daughters, Louise Ann Hohayun of Cincinatti, OH, and June Dengler Fletcher and her husband, Jeffry Thomas of Maryville, TN; a son, Paul Richard Dengler and his wife, Kathy of Simpsonville, SC; a brother, Donald Niemand and his wife, Shirley of Downey, CA and a sister-in-law, Phyllis O?Boyle Dengler of Davenport, IA. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Christ the King Lutheran Church with visitation prior to the service from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at Oakdale Memorial Park, Davenport, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1925 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
