Dovie Lee Lane

Dovie Lee Garren Lane, 83, widow of Charles L. Lane, formerly of Fair Play, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Harvey's Nursing Home. Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Joe Henry and Lizzie Louise Powell Garren. Mrs. Lane was retired from Slater Mill and also managed Lane's One Stop in Fair Play for 18 years. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Carolyn Lane of Mauldin, Gerald and Sheryl Lane of Pickens; three grandchildren Kevin Lane of Woodruff, Amanda Barr of Columbia and Channing Barnes of Pickens; three great grandchildren, P.J. Lane, Logan Lane and Trinitee Church; a sister, Linda Burgess of Pleasant Grove, SC; and a brother, Ira Garren of Pickens. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and a grandson, Matthew Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 28, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will follow in Grand View Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of Gerald and Sheryl Lane, 106 Farmgate Road, Pickens.
