Earl Henry Emerson, 96, beloved husband of 73 years to Jean Emerson, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Clyde and Emmie Emerson.
Earl was a member of Brandon Baptist Church. He devoted over 30 years to leading the music at Woodside Baptist Church and Brandon Baptist Church while demonstrating his love for leading music. He was truly gifted with his ability to lead the choir and was very well respected in the church.
Earl’s life was marked by dedication to his faith and service to his country. A proud member of Brandon Baptist Church, he served as a shining example of Christian devotion. Earl honorably served in the Marines for two years, embodying the principles of duty and commitment.
A dedicated family man, Earl found immense joy in his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he took pleasure in sharing laughter with them, often through his love for telling a good joke.
A devout Christian, Earl’s love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life. He had a passion for sharing his faith and encouraging others to know and love God. Earl’s love extended beyond his spiritual pursuits; he enjoyed traveling and had a particular fondness for the simple pleasures, such as being a member of the ROMEO CLUB (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He also enjoyed a good Hardee’s gravy biscuit.
Earl will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of faith, love, and joy will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
In addition to his beloved wife and love of his life, Jean, he is survived by son, Terry Emerson (Janet); grandchildren, Justin Emerson (Dawana) and Lori Alexander (Brian); great-grandchildren, Eryn Crider, Kenley Emerson, Chandler Staton, Cole Emerson, and Hadley Emerson; and a sister, Ruth Cassity (Fred).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Martha Houck and Joyce Rhodes; and brothers, Harold Emerson and Ray Emerson.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
