Earnest Taylor Landrum, Sr

Earnest Taylor Landrum. Sr., 81, of 1929 Old Grove Road, husband of Lois Dean Landrum, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Block, TN, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pearl Russell Landrum. Mr. Landrum was retired from ARA Services and was a member of Augusta Road United Methodist Church. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Donaldson Air Force Base and flew from there to operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica. He was the only Air Force survivor on the C-124 crash at McCord Air Force Base in Washington and received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Earnest Taylor Landrum, Jr. and his wife Kathy, of Springfield, VA., Jeff Dean Landrum and his wife Jill of Simpsonville, Jeremy Dean Landrum and his wife Monica of Germany; five sisters; one brother; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Lou Landrum Kennedy. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 417 Rutherford Street, Greenville, SC 29609. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 3:00 pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
