Eldridge Bradford Owen

Eldridge Bradford Owen, 83, of 103 David Street, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 3, 2007. Born in Altavista, VA, Mr. Owen was the husband of Taresa Propes Owen and the son of the late Peyton Cable and Ella West Owen. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a member of Company K ? 395th Infantry in the European Theater. He retired from the Greenville News in 1986 and continued working there part-time until 1999. He was also employed by Greenville Printing and was a partner in Thompson & Owen Builders. He was a member of Holmes Memorial Church for over 50 years where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent and a founding member of Holmes Endowment Fund. He currently attended Laurens Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Owen is survived by two daughters, Diana Owen Pope and her husband, Larry of Easley, and Joan Owen Ulmer and her husband, Nick of Laurens; two sons, Michael James Owen and his wife, Cynthia of Powdersville, and Stephen Mark Owen of Laurens; six grandchildren, Michelle Pope Jordan and her husband, Russ of Dacula, GA, Viridianne Dawn Rickards and her husband, Patrick of Greensboro, NC, Lauren Pope Vance and her husband, Eric of Charleston, Zachary Wilson Owen of Easley, Katie Lorene Owen of Columbia, and Audrey Grace Ulmer of Laurens; five great-grandchildren, Abbi Jordan, Sarabeth Jordan, Sebastian Vance, India Vance, and Maisie Owen; two sisters, Lucille Owen Gill and Evelyn Owen, both of Altavista, VA. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Owen Taylor, Hilda Owen Rice Cable and Agnas Owen; and four brothers, John Anderson Owen, David Owen, Rosser Owen, and Laughan Owen. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Holmes Memorial Church, with visitation from 12:00 until 1:15, prior to the service at the church.
