Ellen Vernell Ballew Jewell, 74 of 103 Tifton Court, died June 18, 2004 at the residence. Born in Greenville, she was the wife of the late James Alton Jewell, Sr. and the daughter of the late W.J. Ballew and Mamie Forrester Ballew. She was employed for more than 30 years with J.P. Stevens-Dunean. Mrs. Jewell is survived by a daughter, Susan Evatt of Easley; three sons, Keith Crawford of Easley, James Jewell and Jason Jewell of Fountain Inn; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers; Jack Ballew of Greenville; Kenneth Ballew of Berea and Donnie Ballew of Simpsonville. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Monday at the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
