Elsie Noble Overton

Elsie Noble Overton, 85, widow of Charles Nathaniel Overton, died December 11, 2006. Mrs. Overton opened her home to more than 200 foster children. She was a selfless person and for many years provided Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter Dinners to the less fortunate. She was the founder of ?People Helping People? and was a Jefferson Award Recipient. Surviving are a daughter, Norma Jean Dillard;a son, Edward Overton; and two grandsons, Chris Bench and Ryan Bench. Funeral: Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation: 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Burial will be in Swanquater, NC.
