Elva Strickland Tumblin

Elva Strickland Blasingame Tumblin, 101, of 1404 Lafayette Street, widow of Haskell Eli Tumblin, died Sunday, November 30, 2008. Born in Lake City, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late William James and Mary Elizabeth Roland Strickland. Mrs. Tumblin was a homemaker and member of Augusta Road Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Violet B. Wilt of Warden, WA, Martha Ballinger of Lawndale, NC; a son, John W. Blasingame of Silver City, IA; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Augusta Road Baptist Church, 1823 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC 29605. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Augusta Road Baptist Church. Visitation will follow at the church. Burial will be at Harrisburg Memorial Park, Harrisburg, Arkansas. There will be a gathering of friends to celebrate Elva's home going at Central United Methodist Church, Shelby, on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
