Emmie Whitten Emerson

Emmie Whitten Emerson, 100, formerly of Greenville, died Thursday, February 8, 2006 at Oakmont East Nursing Center. Born in Anderson County, she was the wife of the late Clyde Emerson. She was a member of Woodside Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Earl Emerson and wife Jean, of Greenville; three daughters, Martha E. Houch of Pacific Grove, CA, Joyce E. Rhodes and Ruth E. Cassity and husband Fred of Greenville; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Harold and Ray Emerson. The family wishes to thank the staff of Oakmont East Nursing Center for their love and tender care. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with visitation from 1:30 ? 2:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodside Baptist Church, 301 Woodside Avenue, Greenville, SC 29611. The family is at the home of Earl Emerson, 10 Stacey Drive, Greenville.
