Eugene Rackley

Eugene ?Gene? Rackley, 79, of 216 Valley Oak Drive, died Friday, October 19, 2007. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Paul Lewis Rackley and Sarah Elizabeth Fortner Rackley. Mr. Rackley served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a builder and developer of subdivisions in the Greenville area with two of his most recent being Richmond South in Greenville and University Place adjacent to Furman University. He served on the Greenville County Board of Health from 1968-1972 and also served as president of the State and National Home Builders Association. Surviving are his sister, Ethel R. McCall, of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister. A gathering of friends will be held from 2:00 ? 5:00 pm Sunday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605. The family is at the home of Tim Rackley, 4 Agnew Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
