Evelyn Williams Motte

Evelyn Williams Motte, 81, of 513 Lowndes Hill Road, Greenville, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus Friday February 3rd, following an extended illness. Born March 14, 1924 in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Lawrence and Laurie Gosnell Williams. She was a life-long member of Park Place Baptist Church where she served as organist for over 50 years. Evelyn was a member of the 1940 graduating class at Parker High School. She also attended Draughan?s Business College. She retired from P.E. Collins Electric Co. in March 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Cole and her husband Glenn, Karen Page and her husband Andy, all of Greenville; one son, Ray Motte, Jr. of Simpsonville; one sister, Carolyn Rucker of Greenville, two beloved grandchildren, Lesley Cole Scott and her husband Todd, and Chris Cole, of Greenville; two great-granddaughters, MacKenzie and Mattison Scott; and her special caregiver, Linda Belton. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, James, Truman and Gorman Williams. The family would like to extend thanks to the people who were so faithful in her care: Dr. Jean Saito, Dr. Gary Spitzer and the staff at Cancer Centers of the Carolinas, Absher Neurology, St. Francis Home Care and Interim Healthcare Hospice. Abraham Lincoln once said, ?All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother. No man is poor who has had a godly mother.? We were so very blessed to have had our ?godly mother?. Services will be held Sunday at 3 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home-Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:30-2:30 pm. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West.
