Flora “Flo” Ella Owens, 101, joined her Heavenly Father the morning of Monday, October 24, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. while in the Foothills Presbyterian Community.
Born on June 20,1921, in Leoma, TN, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Grace Willis. She grew up in Lawrenceburg, TN and later moved to Greenville, SC.
Flo married Herman Eugene Owens on December 25,1941 in Greenville, SC. They were married 38 years until he passed in 1980.
Flo was an active and the oldest member of Tremont Church of God for over 88 years; a true servant and faithful follower of the Lord. She worked at Varet Enterprises as a seamstress until retirement. She was an avid reader, traveler, cruiser and enjoyed watching football and baseball. Flo was a true southern woman; loving her Lord, her family, enjoyed life to the fullest, and was always helping others. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and friend; loved dearly by all that knew her. Her memory and legacy of love will be missed but carried on by her loved ones.
She is survived by daughters, Evelyn Trotter (Bo) of Easley, SC and Beverly Mayfield of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Chip Trotter of Ohio, Chris Trotter of Easley, Leah Godfrey (Mitchell), and Dawn Roberts of Georgia; 14 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and sister, Bea Childress of Clinton, SC.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Herbert Owens; granddaughter, Gina Fields; and brothers, Felix and Floyd Willis.
A visitation will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Tremont Church of God, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
