Flora Mae Evans Lewis, 83, widow of Ray Lewis, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Annie Evans. Mrs. Lewis was a beautician and was an active member of Augusta Heights Baptist Church for many years. A very fun, upbeat and loving wife and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and helping people in need. Her golden heart was shared by everyone who surrounded her. She is survived by two children, Charles Lewis and wife, Mo, of Atlanta, GA and Marsha Horshok and husband Randy of Cave Creek, AZ; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers of Lutheran Hospice and the Haven Alzheimer's facility. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association South Carolina Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson SC 29621 or Lutheran Hospice, 218 Trade Street, Ste A, Greer, SC 29651. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will follow at Praters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County.
