Forest Branton “Bud” Duckett, Sr., 94, of Travelers Rest, SC, husband of 62 years to the late Lucille Ann Duck Duckett, died Friday, October 21, 2022.
A native of Buncombe County, NC, he was a son of the late Arthur Lee and Nettie Lance Duckett.
Bud was employed with the Greenville News as a Stereotyper/Engraver for over 34 years. He faithfully and proudly served his country as a Corporal with the US Marines during WWII. Bud enjoyed traveling, was a great fan of Nascar, and had a lifelong love of automobiles. He was a faithful member of Reedy River Baptist Church. All who knew him well have experienced his wit, generosity and integrity. His was a life well lived.
He is survived by three daughters, Dr. Lynn D. Millwood, Col. Cheryl D. Allen (Ret.), (Col. Gregory O. Allen (Ret.)), and Becky Duckett (Dave Matthews); one daughter-in-law, Chong Duckett; three grandchildren, Rebekah Grace Matthews, Forest B. “Trip” Duckett, III, and Ann Song “Bunny” Duckett; a sister, Wylladene D. Nelson, and a loving extended family.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Forest B. Duckett, II, as well as a brother, Don E. Duckett.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
