Frances I. Godfrey, 84, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mattie Basket Willard.
Frances was a strong and independent woman. She worked in manufacturing for many years before retiring.
Frances' greatest love was her family, and she treasured every moment she had with them. She loved holidays and family gatherings; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She especially loved girls' weekends in the mountains with the girls in her family.
Frances devoted her life to working hard, loving her family well, and serving her Lord Jesus Christ. She was called and forever remembered as "Mema" by some of her favorite people. She was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Holloway and husband, Randy, and Denise Gambrel and husband, Steve; son, Steve Godfrey; seven grandchildren, Scott Holloway, Amy Holloway Johnson, Ryan Holloway, Emily Banks, Eric Gambrel, Luke Godfrey, and Jarred Godfrey Pearson; and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Clifton Willard, as well as the father of her children, Lloyd Godfrey.
The Graveside Service will be held Friday, May 8, 2020 at 12:00 PM in Mountain View Memorial Park where social distancing will be practiced. Frances' family encourages those at home to share your condolences on her tribute wall and send a "Hug from Home" if you will be unable to attend.
