Lucille Merritt Syracuse, 89, of Easley, died Sunday, May 21, 2006. Born in Anderson County, Mrs. Syracuse was the widow of James Joseph Syracuse and the daughter of the late James Madison and Suzie Huff Merritt. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Syracuse-Edwards and her husband Jay of Easley; three sons, George Syracuse of Taylors, Dennis A. Syracuse and his wife, Sharon of Chester, VA, and Charles M. Syracuse and his wife, Gail of Easley; three brothers, Monroe Merritt and Herbert Merritt of Greenville, and Billy Merritt of Piedmont; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Syracuse. Visitation will be held from 6:30 ? 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2006 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 14 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at the residence.
