Frank James Mills, Jr. was born September 26th, 1935 in Morristown, New Jersey the son of Frank Mills Sr. and Teresa Clarke Mills. He attended Delbarton High School and Georgetown University where he excelled as a student athlete in golf and baseball.
A lifelong Catholic, Frank was a devoted husband to his beautiful wife of 63 years, Melanie Thompson Mills and their children Christopher, Jennifer and Amanda.
Frank served as an FBI agent for 32 years in Greenville, SC retiring as the Senior Agent in Charge. He then assumed a role with Bank of America as Head of Corporate Security. In addition, he was one of the FBI’s two designated hostage negotiators for South Carolina.
Frank was a fixture at the Cleveland Street YMCA for over 50 years and a regular southpaw contender with the Golden Boys at Pebble Creek Golf Club.
With a twinkle in his Irish eyes, Frank was always ready with a story and a smile. He never met a stranger.
Frank is survived by his wife Melanie and children Chris (Terri), Jennifer (Jerry) and Amanda as well as 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
