Franklin G. Cantrell, Sr.

Franklin Grant Cantrell, Sr., 73, of Simpsonville, SC, passed from this life on July 12, 2021.

He was born in Greenville, SC to the late Cecil B. and Dorothy Williams Cantrell.

Frank lived his entire life in Greenville County and graduated from both Wade Hampton High School and Greenville Technical College. After college, he worked as a Mechanical Designer for J.E. Sirrine for over 20 years.

He pursued a variety of endeavors and made productive use of each day that God gave him. Among Frank’s greatest pleasures was his lifelong hobby of working with vintage automobiles and tending to his fifth generation River Falls Farm.
Frank was a faithful and devoted family man and loved helping his family, friends, and neighbors while seeking no recognition or accolades for his efforts. He unassumingly and quietly lent a hand, solved problems, and positively impacted other people’s lives. If he helped someone, it was a good day.

Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy; son, Frank G. Cantrell, Jr. and wife, Pam, of Greenville; granddaughters, Danielle Wingo (Tyler) of Easley, and Dana Shepherd (Chris) of Granite Falls, NC; great-granddaughter, Rylee Morgan; as well as two nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Barry Cantrell.
Frank was a humble, patient, kind man, and a true and loyal friend. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Frank’s faith was in Jesus Christ and fellow believers can rejoice that they will see Frank again in Heaven.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast, 1604 NE Main Street Simpsonville, SC 29681 followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. A private interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Greenville.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the McCall Hospice House during the final week of Frank’s life and respectfully request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Frank’s honor to the Open Arms Hospice at McCall Hospice House, 1836 W Georgia Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
